In most of the developed countries we can witness an increasing saturation of the actual construction market , probably due to the problem of converting used buildings to the contemporary needs. If we consider the life cycle of a building to be 50 or 100 years, we can easily understand the amount of change in the contemporary life as the building becomes dysfunctional before reaching the end of its useful life.

From a sustainable point of view, common construction methods respond less and less to the principles of environmental sustainability, such as waist generation, energy inefficiency, global CO2 emissions which translates into a high carbon footprint.

How can we answer to the growing economic and environmental requirements, to the permanent changes and diverse lifestyles and their needs?
